IGD’s one-day seminar highlighting the pressures impacting the Food Industry in 2008 and how to adapt to changing shopper needs. A combination of forces in 2008 are having an impact on shopping behaviour prompting the food industry to reconsider the food it produces along with other factors including country of origin, production methods and distribution.
These forces include how we as individuals react to global economic pressures such as food price inflation. They also include food safety concerns linked to food scares and the threat from rising obesity levels. Finally, external pressures such as the growth of non-food and the success of foodservice, are also changing attitudes and behaviour. Each of these create challenges and opportunities for food and grocery retailing in the year ahead.
Throughout the day, experts will draw upon a wealth of IGD exclusive, primary shopper research and specialist industry knowledge, exploring a wide range of subjects vital for understanding the future of food and grocery retailing.
