Nanotechnology in the Food Industry

20th April 2010

Nanotechnology is an emerging science which can be defined as the design, production and application of structures by controlling shape and size at nanometre scale. At this scale materials often have very different properties, for example they may be stronger or more chemically reactive. Nanotechnologies aim to exploit these different properties within the food industry includes packaging (coating, barriers and intelligent packaging), improvement in products (stability and shelf life) etc.

Two experienced speakers on this subject matter will guide you through the process, with Dr Denis Koltsov (Director, BREC Solutions Ltd), who will speak about how Nanotechnology has reached most aspects of our loves including our food and drink and Lyn Insall (Food Safety Manager from Food & Drink Federation) who will speak of how Nanotechnology will be covered by the EU regulatory framework in terms of the safety of foods, food processing and packaging.

This is the ideal forum for businesses to gain a greater understanding of Nanotechnology, the application of the science in the food industry and provides excellent opportunities to discuss in detail their requirements, concerns and raise questions on the subject matter.
