Driving Growth and Ensuring Supplies on World Markets
20th - 21th May 2008
Jurys Great Russell Street Hotel, London
The 7th annual World Poultry conference comes in a year characterised by high feed costs and sporadic avian flu outbreaks, but there are clear signs of promise as global poultrymeat demand is on the rise.
Recent figures reveal that Brazil, the world's third-largest poultry producer, will be stepping up production by some 10% in 2008, with the increased output heading both to domestic and foreign markets. Hear first hand from José Augusto Lima de Sà, Director of International Markets at Sadia, what impact this will have on world trade flows.
The US will also see a rise in production and will be competing with Brazil for market share in China and Russia. China raised poultrymeat imports by a significant 35% in 2007. Mark Han, Chairman of DaChan Food Asia Ltd will give the outlook for production and trade in the region and see who may be able to benefit from this lucrative market in the coming year.
Meanwhile, the EU is expected to see a rise in lower-cost Brazilian poultrymeat imports, causing some concern for some EU producers who are already battling with high feed costs. With the prospect for a fall in feed prices distant, Athan Katsanos, President & CEO of Kemin Industries will assess how the poultry industry can cope in the current climate of high costs and diminishing profit margins.
A panel of expert speakers will be examining in detail key markets around the world and highlighting ever-changing consumer demands and trends. In addition, the EU response to avian influenza outbreaks will also come under the spotlight, as well as how producers and processors can maintain both food safety and animal welfare standards.
