Sensing Improvement in our Food

Wednesday 7th May 2008

Sensors and sensor technology have the potential to improve control in a large number of applications in food.  These range from maximising agricultural output and quality through raw materials testing, onwards into manufacturing processes to quality control and condition monitoring - resulting in higher yields, less waste and reduced cycle times.

Novel sensors are being introduced which have increased functionality at lower cost and are opening up novel areas of sensors throughout the food value chain.  Sensors based on optical techniques, biosensors, wireless networked sensors and RFID have the potential to significantly improve how food is produced, processed and eventually delivered to consumers.

This interactive workshop will examine Scotland's capability across a range of solutions for agriculture and food processing.  It will be of great interest to both companies and researchers in the field and everyone will have the opportunity to contribute and participate.
