1st May 2008
Austin Court, Birmingham
2008 is set to see the introduction of major new pieces of legislation affecting the manner in which waste activities are regulated, along with continuing developments for future changes.
April sees the introduction of the Environmental Permitting Regulation in England and Wales, a regime that will role the waste management licensing and Pollution Prevention Control regime into one. This change will also establish new systems for waste management facilities and individuals for demonstrating their technical competence requirement. Wholesale changes to the system for exemptions for licensing/permitting are also currently in development to compliment the new Environmental Permitting Regulations.
Further changes emanating from Europe are also on the cards with the Waste Framework Directive, the Directive which underpins all waste activities, while protocols are also being developed to determine when waste ceases to be waste.
This seminar will examine these developments and discuss how they will impact upon the day to day operations for waste managers.
