How do you feed an Olympic Games?

12th May 2010
New Zealand High Commission, London

Jan Matthews, Director of Food and Drink, London Olympics, 2012, will talk about the whole process of how the Olympics are fed and watered - from the initial construction phase, which involves some 9,000 construction workers - and then what happens when 8 million people want to see around 17,000 athletes from some 170 countries in action across a wide range of locations - all in a fortnight!

How are the spectators fed? What matters of importance need to be taken into consideration for competitors? Just how are they all fed? How is the food and drink decided on? What constraints need to be overcome? What opportunities exist for food and drink suppliers? How important is the much vaunted "legacy of the Olympics" going to be in the food and drink sector?   Jan will give an indication of the sheer scale of the task involved, its complexity and an idea of the issues involved.
