The Food Chain CIC uses the advanced laboratory and facilities of the world-class centres of excellence at the University of Leeds and the Central Science Laboratory.

Hygienically designed food pilot plant to enable companies to develop and test new products for commercial viability, state-of-the-art imaging and microscopes to understand food texture and develop new formulations, Food Safety, chemical safety, microbiology and genetic finger-printing in the area of food safety, and the assurance of factory input streams, cryogenic methods to develop more efficient chilling and freezing processes, controlled environment rooms to assist companies in exploring food storage issues, advanced electronics development laboratories and workshops providing customisation and on-line non-contact inspection systems.
